Learn a language with YouTube and Netflix subtitles

Turn on subtitles as usual. NativeLingo swaps a few words in each line into the language you learn, in the right form and at your level. Hover a word to see the original.

How it looks in the player

Three steps, no new habits

  1. 1

    Install and pick a language

Choose what you read in and what you learn. Take the three-minute level test or start at A2.

  2. 2

Turn on subtitles in the player

Any track works: one in your language, another language, or auto-generated. NativeLingo follows the one you pick.

  3. 3

    Watch and review

Words you met in videos join your word list and come back in a 90-second typed review.

What to expect

Subtitles stay on your device

The extension reads the track the player already loads. The text is never sent to us.

Ads and live streams are left alone

During ads and on live streams the player shows its own subtitles.

Netflix in beta

Turn it on in the extension settings. YouTube is on by default.

Questions

Yes. NativeLingo uses whichever track you choose in the player, including auto-generated ones. Hand-made tracks are cleaner, so they work best.

Your next video can teach you ten words.
