How the vocabulary builder picks and keeps words

Words for your level

Set A2 and you meet “rue” long before “vasistas”.

The right form in the sentence

Two dogs becomes “deux chiens”. If we are not sure of the form, you get the plain word.

Typed reviews

Write the word once a day. Spaced repetition brings it back just before you would forget it.

What makes a vocabulary builder actually work

A vocabulary builder works when it does two jobs well: it shows you the right words at the right time, and it makes you pull them out of memory later. Most tools do only one of these, either serving word lists without context or quizzing you on words you never met in real text.

NativeLingo covers both. While you read, it swaps about one word in a hundred into the language you learn, chosen for your level and shown in the form the sentence needs. Each word appears several times across your reading, which matters because research suggests a word needs around ten meetings before it stays.

Every word then goes into a daily review where you type the answer. Typing trains recall and spelling, whereas tapping that you knew a word only records a feeling. Spaced repetition decides when each word returns, so the review stays short even as your vocabulary grows. Misses bring a word back sooner, and it returns to your pages too.

You choose the pace. Five new words a day settles at about 7 to 10 minutes of review a day after a year, while ten suits a deadline such as an exam. If reviews pile up, new words pause until you catch up, so the builder never buries you. You can change the pace at any time.

Your vocabulary could grow on the next page.
