Terms of Service
Last updated: October 16, 2026
These terms apply to the NativeLingo browser extension and the NativeLingo web app at nativelingo.io (together, “NativeLingo”). By creating an account or using NativeLingo you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use NativeLingo.
1. What NativeLingo does
The extension swaps a few words on the pages you read for the language you learn. The web app keeps your word list, your reviews, your goal and your subscription. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy: the text, titles and addresses of the pages you read stay in your browser.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google. Keep access to that Google account safe: whoever controls it controls your NativeLingo account. One account per person. NativeLingo isn’t intended for children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and the UK.
3. Free plan, free week and Pro
- Free plan. Word swaps on the sites you read, your word list with pronunciation, one language. No card needed.
- Your first week. A new account gets every Pro feature for 7 days, free and without a card. Nothing is charged when it ends.
- After the free week. Pro features — daily review, goals and the forecast, switching languages, the weekly summary and export to Anki or CSV — are locked until you get Pro. Your words and progress are kept.
- Pro. A weekly, monthly or annual subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Current prices are in the pricing section.
- Pro days from awards. Some awards give days of Pro. They have no cash value and can’t be transferred or exchanged for money.
4. Payments, renewals and cancellation
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy charges you, issues the receipt and handles taxes, and its buyer terms apply to the purchase. We never see your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time in Settings → Subscription, which opens your Lemon Squeezy billing page. After cancelling, Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for and doesn’t renew.
- Lifetime is a single payment for Pro for as long as NativeLingo runs. It doesn’t renew.
- Refunds follow Lemon Squeezy’s refund policy. If something went wrong with a payment, write to support@nativelingo.io and we’ll help.
- If we change prices, the new price applies from your next period, and we tell you before it does. A period you’ve already paid for is never repriced.
5. Fair use
Don’t use NativeLingo to break the law, don’t try to break into it or overload it, don’t scrape the API or the dictionaries in bulk, and don’t resell access. We may limit or suspend accounts that do.
6. Your words and our content
Your word list and progress are yours, and you can delete your account with everything in it at any time in Settings. The software, the site and the design are ours. Translations come from open dictionaries such as Wiktionary, under their own licences.
7. Translations aren’t perfect
NativeLingo is a learning tool. Dictionary translations can be wrong or miss the meaning a page intends, so don’t rely on them for legal, medical, financial or other important decisions. NativeLingo is provided “as is”, and we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about NativeLingo is limited to what you paid for NativeLingo in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting the account doesn’t cancel a subscription by itself, so cancel that first. We may close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law prevents it. If we ever shut NativeLingo down, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice and a way to download your words.
10. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using NativeLingo after that, the new terms apply.
